On the 25th June the Climate Change Committee will deliver its progress report to the Government. It will say that it is failing in its commitments to reach net zero emissions by 2050, a target already woefully inadequate. It will say they are failing in their responsibilities to keep people safe. Why aren't they listening? Inaction equals death.
At Warwickshire County Council Offices (in Warwick)
This action is open to everyone, not only Extinction Rebellion. The more the merrier so bring friends, relatives, strangers ... everyone is welcome so long as they follow Government advice. We aim to peacefully engage with the public to hear their views about the climate and ecological emergency, local environmental issues (traffic, air quality, cycle lanes, ..) and if they are interested to inform them about XR and XRWD.
LEAMINGTON SPA - VICTORIA PARK (We will be close to the Victoria Park entrance at the end of Archery Road)
This will be an exciting opportunity to do socially distanced block printing on T-shirts etc. with standard Extinction Rebellion slogans, pictures and meet fellow rebels. Please just bring your own food & your own fabric, T-shirts, scraps for flags or badges etc. & we will provide the rest. We will also have a number of ready printed flags available.
Join rebels from across the Midlands in this mass action against the destruction and waste of the HS2 railway line. Rebels will gather at 11:00am in Eastside City Park, Curzon St, Birmingham, B4 7AP across from the construction site of the planned HS2 terminal on Curzon Street. There will then be various actions proposed which currently include a march starting at 11:30am, a Samba band, paint the streets, Art, etc. Please come along with your flag or placard.
On the 15th January 11AM we will be protesting at Barclays Bank Leamington, at their greenwashing. Barclays has invested $145 billion dollars in fossil fuels since the Paris agreement of 2015, yet claims “It’s our ambition to be a net zero bank by 2050. We’re already net zero emissions from our own operations..." blah blah blah. Join us in demanding action. Bring mops and cleaning gear to symbolise the greenwash, or business attire.
An outreach event to talk to the public, with the theme of Valentine's Day: love the planet, hate climate change. We will be helping make Valentine's Day cards for the earth.
Stop Funding Fossil Fuel. Bring your mops to help clean up Barclays' act, or your suits to symbolise big business.
