Inaction = Death

 

 

On the 25th June the Climate Change Committee will deliver its progress report to the Government. It will say that it is failing in its commitments to reach net zero emissions by 2050, a target already woefully inadequate. It will say they are failing in their responsibilities to keep people safe. Why aren't they listening? Inaction equals death.

 

In support of this message, Extinction Rebellion Warwick District will hold an event outside the Town Hall in Leamington. However, in addition to bring attention to this inaction we would like to highlight the positive steps Warwickshire County Council have taken in closing the Parade to vehicular traffic improving the experience for pedestrians and cyclists. Therefore we thought we would take this opportunity of the vehicle free space by holding a Lunchtime Picnic . This will provide a positive uplifting occasion to celebrate the reclaiming of streets but at the same time, through the use of banners and notices, highlight the woeful inaction of the Government towards the Climate and Ecological Emergency.

 

Please bring portable tables, chairs, rugs, drinks , snacks and plenty of banners and boards. Remember that the current social distancing guidelines on Covid19 will be observed.

On the same day , and as part of the same campaign there is a national action to "slow-march" to MP's offices and hand deliver an "Inaction = Death" letter to our MP. If anyone is interested in taking part of this 2nd action at the moment can you please contact us and we should be able to co-ordinate interested activists.
