We're going to make our 2020 Rebellion the biggest and best yet! So, book your place for Birmingham, Saturday 7th March, 10.00-17.00, and not only will we celebrate our mass outreach successes, we'll pool our knowledge, resources and brain-power to plan for maximizing the impact of our May Rebellion.

People’s Assembly - Reflect, Learn and Support

A People’s Assembly to share our experiences, ideas and questions on how we are supporting and organising in our wider communities in this time of crisis. This session is open to anyone involved in the community response both inside and outside of XR

Banner drops will also occur on this day in prominent locations all over the country to signal the start of the rebellion.  Slogans will vary but the message is the same that we, Extinction Rebellion, are unified and ready to act now! If you wish to get involved in organising & co-ordinating a local banner drop either on this day or another day over the course of the rebellion, then please get in touch. We have full details for making or ordering the banners or another local group has also kindly offered to let us borrow theirs. Coventry XR have lots in hand...

Local groups are invited to do actions targeting banks, which fund the fossil fuel industry. Please do let us know if you have any ideas or capacity or otherwise Birmingham Extinction Rebellion are doing an action outside HSBC, ‪130 New Street, Birmingham, West Midlands, B2 4JU‬ and they have kindly invited us along.

The current plan is to surround and disrupt parliament with creative and impactful action as it reconvenes ‪on 1st September and‬ occupy the space and road outside the Houses of Parliament for 72 hours or until the Government agrees to pass the CEE Bill or the Police intervene. Rebels are invited to come for as little or as long as they like. We initially hope we can go down together as a group to help and support each other so please do let us know if you would be interested. 

Please note we have been advised that if you wish to stay and protest over night, you will need to take responsibility for yourself and your belongings and bring whatever you need to be comfortable. Throughout these ten days the latest plans are that action will be taken to other key institutions of power in central London, highlighting the harm and injustice that the ecocidal system is causing. A ‘hub’ will be set up where new rebels can be trained up in nonviolent direct action, meet other rebels and learn about XR. There will be opportunities to join in actions every day, whatever level of risk you are willing to take. At the weekend there will be a Peoples’ Assembly on the CEE and a march through London to bring together all people with a unified message.

REBELLING AT HOME

Rebellion Of One is a single-person roadblock, times 1,000. At midday on 1st May (and subsequent days and times, to be agreed) individuals across the UK (seemingly spontaneously) will sit down in the road, alone, in front of traffic. They wear a sandwich board with a simple and emotive message. They remain sitting in the road until they choose to move, or are moved. 

We will not be bystanders while the world burns.

Get the bus down to London for the Restore Nature Now protest. We will be setting off at 9AM from the coach stop at the corner where Newbold Terrace meets the Parade (see map) and arriving for 12 PM meet up near Park Lane, London. Catching the bus back at 6PM.
