On Sunday 17 December 2023, we spoke to local people about air pollution in our area outside Leamington Town Hall and mapped the pollution where they lived.
All of the postcodes checked on addresspollution.org, within Warwick and Leamington, and beyond, exceeded World Health Organisation (WHO) safe limits, for Particulate Matter (PM) and Nitrous Dioxide (NO2). These pollutants increase the risk of cardiovascular mortality, bronchitis, asthma and cancers.
We mapped the points where local people lived and talked about how we could combat air pollution.
We were assisted by a citizen representing Clean Air Warwickshire and also spoke to Councillor Harrison from Warwick District Council.
The majority of people voted that they were extremely concerned about air pollution in our area.
We will be meeting on 10 January 2024 to discuss our Air Pollution Strategy, based on the feedback from citizens, all welcome. Meeting 7PM at the White Horse, Clarendon 4-6 Clarendon Ave, Leamington Spa CV32 5PZ
