London
XRWD met up with rebels from from across the country on 28 October 2024 to march to several insurers, pressuring them to stop insuring fossil fuels.
Extinction Rebellion occupied insurance companies and caused disruption across the City of London including the Walkie Talkie, home to insurers Ascot, Talbot, Chaucer, Markel, Allied World, CNA Hardy, Tokio Marine Kiln, Sirius International and Lancashire Syndicates, demanding insurance companies dump new oil, gas & coal projects
Thousands of activists have also hit the streets, calling on insurers to cut their ties with fossil fuel projects which are actively fuelling climate chaos
We staged a die-in outside Lloyds of London, where our bodies were chalked around by Climate Crime Investigators
Birmingham
XR Warwick joined up with XR Midlands on Friday 1 November to bring Fire and Flood to the offices of insurance companies in Birmingham, and ask them to stop insuring new coal and oil extraction projects. Rebels also wrote letters to the employees of these companies to encourage them to speak up to management.
Zurich, Probitas and Generali have already made commitments to stop enabling new fossil fuel extraction. We need the others to follow.
