Extinction Rebellion Warwick District

We are facing an unprecedented global climate emergency.

The government has failed to protect us.

To survive, it's going to take everything we've got.

We will not be intimidated

Welcome to Rebel Daily #5 – and what an eventful weekend it was! Ugly words from our prime minister provided a sharp contrast with our beautiful earth-defending actions.

Ever since we crossed the Murdoch media (for a single night!), the government has taken its repression to another level.

The intensity of policing and restrictions to civil liberties have left rebels feeling like they’re living in a dystopian novel. Food and water has been denied to HS2 rebels in trees for a second day running, in a truly shocking human rights abuse. Anyone trying to help the tree-protectors is getting arrested.

Police disbanded a socially-distanced democratic assembly in Trafalgar Square, threatening Covid fines at our masked faces until we left. ‘Assemblies’ of rebels are being hassled and it seems police now need only the flimsiest legal reason to move you on, in a Coronatime repeat of last October.

We can only speculate about where this order has come from, but it’s probably not from the officers on the street.

Tue 26 Jan 2021 7:30 pm -9:30 pm
XRWD Zoom Room
The meetings will be fortnightly on a Tuesday and last 2 hours – from 7.30 to 9.30 - with time for our working groups to meet in breakout rooms and report back to everyone. This will mean that we all know what the working groups are doing and the working groups will be supported by the whole group. Each meeting will include a report from our external coordinator, an open agenda with the CEE bill and outreach work as standing items, working group meetings in break out rooms, and reports from the working groups. The newsletter will come out fortnightly in between the local group meetings.

not yet recycled

NOT YET RECYCLED?

If you're like us, then you will be fed up with buying products from the supermarket with those dreaded words 'not yet recycled' on the packaging.

Our rebels came up with a great idea and we want you to join us! Please save this 'not yet recycled' packaging and bring it to us (maybe collect it in a separate box next to your normal recycling💡).

There will be a drop off point at every Local Group Meeting.

Watch this space for what we are going to do with it! Be assured it will be fun and it'll relieve any guilt you might have, now that you don't have to throw it away.
