Extinction Rebellion Warwick District

We are facing an unprecedented global climate emergency.

The government has failed to protect us.

To survive, it's going to take everything we've got.

Join the Rebellion

It's the 4th Tuesday of the month on 23rd June, so it's Local Group Meeting time again! This is an open event for all. We'd love to see new and familiar faces, to share ideas and discuss what's happening within XR Warwick District.

The meeting will take place on Tuesday 23rd June, 7.30-9pm, on zoom.

There’s lots of energy for different XR activities locally at the moment so we’ll be hearing what’s developed since our last meeting and discussing future plans, as well as having a chance to check in with each other and enjoy some regen. Bring your thoughts, ideas and any items you'd like to share and get feedback on. All welcome!

The link for the Local Group Meetings is https://us02web.zoom.us/j/82430442443?pwd=MG9YRFFobjd3aCt4OEU5S01IQmJBUT09 To join the meeting, click on this link at 7.30pm on Tuesday. It should work! You can also choose to download Zoom using https://zoom.us/join and paste in the meeting id: 824 3044 2443 and password XRWDLGM

We look forward to seeing those who can make it.

Stand Up For Change

Wed 24 Jun 2020 6:00 pm -7:00 pm

At The Town Hall in Leamington

Taking every care to ensure we maintain Social Distancing, we are planning to exercise and make our presence known before the County Council full meetings to demonstrate our dissatisfaction with the current inadequate response to the climate and ecological emergency. We would like our local representatives to know that we expect far more from them.  More Details

Inaction = DEATH

Thu 25 Jun 2020 12:00 pm -2:00 pm
Leamington Town Hall

On the 25th June the Climate Change Committee will deliver its progress report to the Government. It will say that it is failing in its commitments to reach net zero emissions by 2050, a target already woefully inadequate. It will say they are failing in their responsibilities to keep people safe. Why aren't they listening? Inaction equals death.  More Details

Reclaim the Streets

Sunday 28th June 2020
11.00 am
meet at The bandstand, Leamington

Reclaim the Streets

Following our successful "Reclaim the Streets" cycle event earlier in May which was encouraging cyclists and pedestrians to take to the streets as part of the wider "No Going Back" message, we have decided to continue with this national campaign and have organised a follow up event. This peaceful and "socially distant" action will provide a strong message that the town centre streets around the world are for all to enjoy , and residents would like the recent reduction in traffic use and improvement in air quality to continue post-Covid19.

NOT YET RECYCLED?

If you're like us, then you will be fed up with buying products from the supermarket with those dreaded words 'not yet recycled' on the packaging.

Our rebels came up with a great idea and we want you to join us! Please save this 'not yet recycled' packaging and bring it to us (maybe collect it in a separate box next to your normal recycling💡).

There will be a drop off point at every Local Group Meeting.

Watch this space for what we are going to do with it! Be assured it will be fun and it'll relieve any guilt you might have, now that you don't have to throw it away.

who we are
